Data Engineer III

As a Data Engineer III with Expedia Engineering team you will have the opportunity to leverage your technical expertise to design solutions that enrich the Data and Intelligent service Metric Enablement platform with new features and functionality to run the business. As a senior data engineer on the team, we expect you to be able to have good understanding of the Expedia Technology stack to carve out innovative solutions to solve problems Data and Intelligent service Metric Enablement focuses on. You will also have the opportunity to work alongside junior developers as a coach/mentor to them & work with Sr. Devs on various tech. teams to come up with solutions. Our software uses Java, python, SQL as spark, hive,, AWS S3 and AWS as cloud solution.

What you’ll do:

• Design and develop, scalable cloud-native solution that are scalable, responsive & resilient.

• Work on building platform products Work on building micro services which are independent and can be leveraged by other projects independently

• Be responsible for your products, with a focus on DevOps and robust automation Embrace change, always be open to replacing what you built yesterday with something better today

• Develop, test, own and deliver Sprint tasks and help drive the team forward

• Collaborate with teams and individuals to complete your team assignment on time, with quality

• Be a coach/mentor to junior developers on the team

• Work across multiple layers of the stack as the problem demands.

• Have a strong sense of ownership on all Technical issues

• Identify risks, issues & drive them to mitigation/resolution as required in the scope of your work

• Prototype ideas, execute and learn from them and enrich the overall team experience
  
  Who you are:

• 5+ years development experience in an enterprise level engineering environment increasing levels of technical expertise

• 2+ years hands-on backend application development experience with excellent understand products with microservice architecture

• Displays strength in Java or Python Proficient in using Database procedural languages (SQL or any other RDBMS language)

• Experience in Big Data platforms. Understanding of CICD

• Well versed with DWH concepts, with experience in dimensional modelling

• Built and maintained at least one application in production environments (bug fixing, troubleshooting, monitoring, etc.
