Expedia Group’s First Inclusion & Diversity Report

Today we are sharing our first Inclusion & Diversity report to highlight our progress, honor the contributions of our employees and partners, and further commit ourselves to transparency, accountability, and impact. View the full report, which covers our progress from 2014 to 2020, identifies existing gaps, and charts our path forward.

Over the years, Expedia Group has made strides toward creating an environment where all identities can achieve their full potential by removing barriers for our employees. We are thankful to the many leaders, especially our Inclusion Business Groups (commonly referred to as Employee Resource Groups), who have championed these efforts from the start. We now have:

  • hiring targets for underrepresented identities,
  • company-wide learning and development programs with an emphasis on ally skills,
  • a listening and feedback strategy segmented by underrepresented groups,
  • collaborative coalitions with our travel industry partners,
  • marketing efforts to reach and highlight diverse communities, and
  • improved accessibility so that all travelers can experience our products with fewer barriers.

As these programs grow, we commit to collecting data to assess our efforts and will keep you informed along the way.

While we are pleased to share this progress, we are acutely aware this is only an early step in the long journey ahead. Following a challenging year that claimed millions of lives and exacerbated global inequality, it is our duty to help the travel and tourism industry recover in a way that centers communities that have historically been excluded.

We acknowledge that our employee workforce representation numbers are not where we want them to be. This reality stands in opposition to our belief that our business and services are better when diverse perspectives and identities are included equally. We are focused on redesigning systems across recruiting, development, and advancement in all areas of our business to make progress. This report represents the next milestone toward accelerating our diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts and holding ourselves accountable.

We invite you—our community of employees, travelers, partners, customers, vendors, and allies—to accompany us on our journey as we continue to create a workplace culture that represents the diversity of the millions of travelers we serve and enables us to achieve our purpose of strengthening connections, broadening horizons, and bridging divides.
